About Us

We are Deb & Scott Burtle, the co-owners
of Critter Sitters of Lincoln.
We have been happily married for 11 years and love the
business of pet sitting. Both of us spent our childhood
in rural Nebraska. We came to the eastern side of the
state to start this business. I attended the University
of Nebraska-Lincoln and received my bachelors degree,
and hope to finish my masters there someday. I have
4 years of pet-sitting experience. I've experienced
many different pets that have had varying degrees of
needs and wants. My staff and I are more than happy
to provide everything within the normal routine of your
pet, as long as spoiling them is part of it.
We have three pets in our household. They are all
so precious to us. We spend a lot of time with them,
talking and playing with them as well as some well deserved
TLC. We really can't imagine life without them. Yes,
we are passionate about animals. We know not everyone
is as eccentric about them as we are, but being in the
pet care business, it is vital to feel this way towards
all animals. Rest assured, that this same compassion
and care will be given to your pet(s) as well.
Our Dogs
We have a Pomeranian named Cinnamon. She is
about the best investment we've ever made. When we got
her we really couldn't afford it. But Scott always wanted
a Pomeranian and he just couldn't resist her smile.
Yes, she really does have a smile! Cinnamon was born
with an under bite so she always looks like she is smiling
at you. The funny thing is that her personality matches
that smile perfectly. She is sable in color and has
the biggest brown puppy eyes that are perfect for begging
for treats. Her favorite snack is chips or popcorn.
She has supersonic hearing for those items, there is
no hiding them when she's around.
The newest addition to our pet family is our
Shih-Tza Poo, Sugar.
Just when our other pets thought they'd start
settling into their elder years, here came this
ball of terror. She keeps everyone on
their toes and is full of vim and vigor.
Play-time is her middle name. She has
helped our cat lose some weight and kept Cinnamon
from starting to sleep all day. Needless
to say, she keeps us entertained and occupied
almost all of the time. In one of the
pictures below you can see a little bit of her
best friend, Buster Brown, who comes to visit
now and then. They have a GREAT time together!
Sugar has learned that popcorn is pretty darn
good and she gets excited as soon as she hears
the first one pop.
Our Cat
We also have a cat named Zima. She is a tabby
cat that, again, Scott just had to have. He found her
at a farm that had a litter of kitties to give away
free. He brought her home and we played and played,
but noticed she scratched a lot. She was adorable, but
was infested with fleas. About $100 or so later we had
a free cat. Now she is about the fattest cat you've
ever seen, and she snores when she sleeps! But she is
still the most adorable thing, and is the best partner
to curl up with if your feet are cold. She's like a
portable radiator. We love them both so very much and
hope we get a chance to be introduced to your loved
ones too. Her favorite food, like most cats is anything
dairy or tuna. You can barely open a can of tuna before
she nearly goes crazy trying to let you know that she
would LOVE to have a taste too. Of course, she
thinks ANY can that you crack open is tuna and she gets
pretty worked up until you physically show her otherwise.
